Rent an Igloo at Stable Craft

It’s always fun to be outside at Stable Craft Brewing. You can play lawn games, pet the horses, enjoy a round of disc golf, and even toast s’mores around one of the firepits. Did you know that you can also warm up with your besties in a personal igloo? The igloos shelter you from the elements but are transparent and offer incredible views of stars or falling snow. Perfect for special occasions or just sharing yummy craft beer and cider, each igloo is heated and seats up to eight people. They include a table for food and drink as well as panels to adjust airflow. The igloo experience lasts for an hour and 45 minutes and includes a private server. You’ll need to make reservations ahead of time. Also, consider making a night (or weekend) out of it by staying overnight in one of Stable Craft’s cozy guest suites.
Enjoy Wine and Views at Barren Ridge Vineyards

Savor a glass of wine by the tasting room fire at Barren Ridge. If the weather allows, take your wine outside to the patio that overlooks the vineyards and captures a distant view of the mountains. Barren Ridge has a rotating menu of wines, including chardonnay, rosé, cabernet franc, and a delicious apple wine made with Stayman and Fuji apples. This is a nod to Barren Ridge’s past as an apple orchard. Plan to listen to live music on Saturdays and Sundays. Reservations are always recommended and required on weekends. Visitors can also reserve spaces on vineyard walks and order personalized wine and cheese pairings.
Try the Gringo at Basic City

Indulge in even more of the Waynesboro area’s craft beverages by trying the 2021 Grin lineup at Basic City Beer Co. The Gringo is a smooth Mexican Mole Stout is infused with chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and habanero and is 9% ABV. Reviewers on Untappd say it’s perfect for the holidays, “like a complex hot chocolate” with a “perfect amount of heat.” Or try the Grin’s Casket Stout, which is aged in Buffalo Trace and Bookers barrels, and infused with vanilla, cacao nibs, and coffee. Plan to stay for a while at Basic City and make it a family game night in the “beercade.” There are plenty more beers to try and food options include wood-fired pizza.
Take a Tour at the Plumb House
The Battle of Waynesboro took place in 1865, and the building that is now The Plumb House Museum actually survived between battle lines. Operated by the Waynesboro Heritage Foundation, part of the house was built in the early 1800s, and is probably the oldest surviving log structure in town. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum tells the story of the Battle of Waynesboro through exhibits of battle-related artifacts and documents. Visitors can learn about life in the past by examining items of interest from the lives of the five generations of the Plumb family who lived in the house from 1838-1994. There’s also a collection of bird and butterfly specimens. Stop by the Waynesboro Heritage Museum to plan your tour of the Plumb House!
Hit a Classic Monday Movie at the Wayne
Want to liven up a Monday night by reliving some classic memories? Why not head to the Wayne Theatre for a classic Monday Movie shown on the theater’s big screen? See Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy bring the past to life in Fried Green Tomatoes or investigate what might be out there in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Help the kids get into the holiday spirit with Tim Allen in The Santa Clause. If you want to see some live theater, grab your tickets for a showing of A Christmas Story: The Musical, on stage in December.
Warm up with Brunch at Heritage on Main
Heritage on Main Street is a great place to share a fine-dining experience with your out-of-town guests. Looking to do something different? The Havoc House has you covered. Whether you need a quick 5 minute “outburst” or a full 20 minute “temper tantrum,” the rage rooms will be stocked with plenty of things to smash like TVs, hard drives, mirrors, small furniture, glasses and more. Choose from a selection of bats, tennis rackets, or golf clubs and have at it. While you’re there, rage on and add an axe throwing session.
